Davao City's Central 911

Central 911 or the Central Communication & Emergency Response -911 is a project that uses a special computer software to help authorities respond to distress calls. This project was conceived during the first quarter of 2002 and was developed and made possible to help in fighting crimes and lawlessness in Davao City. The launching of the project had made the Philippines the only country to adopt the system aside from US and Canada and is the only one of its kind in Asia.

Central 911 is composed of fire auxiliary, k9 units, urban search and rescue, police and emergency medical services. In addition, the center is equipped with Emergency Computer Aided Dispatch or ECAD, a computerized mapping system given by the Davao Light and Power Company (DLPC) in support of the peace and order drive. This mapping system helps authorities locate the origin of a particular call and locate the emergency site if residents just give the locator number found in the DLPC's billing statements. The ECAD system utilizes GIS maps plotted with grid lines to triangulate the exact location of the caller.

Moreover, 911 assigned two patrol cars to be dispensed in each police station with built-in radio station. The Central 911 is also interconnected with telecommunications firms such as the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT), Bayantel, Globe, Smart and Sun Cellular, to enable easy access via mobile phone.

Of course, the City Government is spending millions just to upgrade and acquire a technically advanced system and supports . Trainings and updates to center's rescuers and staff are always heightened and prioritized just to cope with the demands of the city's emergency needs. This may be a reflection that taxes in Davao City are working and are given back to the Dabawenyos.

Central 911 office can be located along C. Bangoy Sr. Street, Davao City, Philippines in-fronting DLPC central office. Their contact numbers are (082) 225-1041/224-2535/224-2536 and they can be reached through email at info@davaocity.911.org. Their facebook account is also active.

Davao's Tayo ay Dabawenyo Theme Song

Here's the video and the lyrics of Tayo'y Dabawenyo. Let us sing along with this heartwarming song. A credit to the ones who composed and produced the song.
